Everyone is familiar with the "Golden Rule"...or should be.  Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.  Treat others the way you want to be treated.

There's certainly nothing wrong with that attitude and it's a great place to start...but it doesn't go far enough, IMHO.

Jesus said the greatest in the kingdom is the servant...so if you strive to become a servant, do you treat everyone as servants?  Only if you want to find out the true meaning of "them that hate you...spitefully use you, and persecute you."

Trust me, people do not want to be treated as servants.

I admit, it's not easy to humble yourself...especially with those who "despitefully use you," but that should be the goal of every child of God; to be more like Christ who said: "Take my yoke upon, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart..." (Matthew 11:29)

The hardest thing to overcome in this life, is selfishness.  The only way is to die to "self" by becoming a "servant...putting the needs of others before your own.

It's not easy; but "God never said it would be easy...just that it would be worth it." 

If you want a happier, healthier, wealthier life: Treat others better than yourself.
